Hi On Maiden: A Night of Metal Nostalgia
If you’ve ever wished you could experience Iron Maiden live but missed your chance, then seeing a top-tier tribute band like Hi On Maiden might just be the next best thing. On Saturday night, I had the pleasure of once again attending one of their shows, and they certainly didn’t disappoint. From the first blast of guitars to the thunderous drums, it was clear that this wasn’t just any tribute, this was an authentic homage to one of metal’s greatest acts.
Vocalist Matt Duggan delivered the raw power and soaring highs of Bruce Dickinson’s iconic vocals with effortless precision, engaging the crowd at every turn. Whether it was belting out “Run to the Hills” or soaring through the anthemic “Aces High,” Duggan’s connection with the audience was undeniable—his stage presence just as commanding as Maiden’s legendary frontman.
Bassist Simon Spence laid down thundering bass lines that matched the technical brilliance and sheer weight of Steve Harris himself. You could feel the pulse of his bass as it rumbled through the venue, and his playing was as much a visual performance as a musical one—every movement was deliberate, every note a statement.
The twin guitarists, Adam Breyer and George Gt Stergiou B, were a force to be reckoned with. Their harmonized solos—like the ones found in “The Trooper” and “2 Minutes to Midnight”—weren’t just something you heard; they were something you felt. Each note seemed to ripple through the crowd, shaking the very foundation of the venue. Their tight interplay and scorching solos were an absolute highlight, capturing Maiden's dual-guitar magic with striking precision.
And let’s not forget the drummer, ‘Nicko McBrain Jnr’, who played with the kind of power and finesse that could give Nicko McBrain himself a run for his money. From the relentless pace of “The Number of the Beast” to the intricate rhythms of “Hallowed Be Thy Name,” the drumming was nothing short of ferocious, propelling the band forward in a nonstop assault of energy.
As if the performance wasn’t already enough, the theatricality was on full display. Eddie, Maiden’s legendary mascot, made several appearances throughout the night in various forms, adding an extra layer of spectacle and keeping the crowd’s excitement at a fever pitch. From his monstrous, life-sized form to the more subtle nods to his presence, the band’s commitment to the Maiden aesthetic was evident in every detail.
All in all, Hi On Maiden delivered a superb performance that left the audience with their heads banging and fists in the air. These seasoned musicians don’t just play Iron Maiden songs—they become Iron Maiden, giving you the full, unfiltered Maiden experience. Whether you’re a die-hard fan or just someone looking for an unforgettable night of rock and metal, Hi On Maiden delivers in every way.
